Shipping this month: Body Bags: One Shot, Superman Chronicles Vol. 1, Supreme: The Story of the Year
BODY BAGS: ONE SHOT (IMAGE;
48PGS FC; $5.99) (W/A: JASON PEARSON)
After too many years of cover-only work, Pearson finally returns to the hyper-violent book that made his name. Assassin Mack and his pulchritudinous partner/progeny Panda are backed into a corner with only one bullet and not a whole lot of options.
SUPERMAN CHRONICLES VOL. 1 (DC COMICS; 208PGS FC; $14.99)
(W: JERRY SIEGEL, A: JOE SHUSTER)
The first in a hopefully long series collecting every adventure of the Man of Steel in chronological order at a bargain price begins with these classic stories from 1938–39.
SUPREME: THE STORY OF THE YEAR
(CHECKER; 332 PGS FC; $26.95) (W: ALAN MOORE, A: VARIOUS)
Forget, for just a second, that Supreme was created by Rob Liefeld and you’ll realize that this book is basically comic god Alan Moore (Watchmen, V For Vendetta) having his way with Superman. The art is a tad uneven—a matter corrected in the upcoming second volume, featuring gorgeous art by Chris Sprouse (Tom Strong)—but the unbounded imagination of comics’ greatest writer featured in these 13 issues can’t be beat.
