Indie pop band Bridges & Powerlines have returned to the scene with a genuine sophomore effort, Eve. The band’s 2007 debut album, Ghost Types, received a solid run in the CMJ top 200 and affirmative head nods from the indie scene critics. Eve builds on the band’s love of complex pop melodies, horn and strings rhythm and funky percussion all squeezed into a tight, radio-friendly three to four-minute format. Curiously, the band owes its existence to the cultural and musical renaissance that flowed out of NYC post 9-11. Four men from four different states became cosmically drawn to the city that never sleeps and, poof, Bridges & Powerlines were born. Music lovers can rejoice for we now have some bright, fun pop tunes to lift our spirits on these gloomy winter days. B+ | Mary Beth Hascall
