The Pageant, St. Louis

The holiday season in St. Louis would never be complete without sledding down Art Hill, picking up a tree from Ted Drewes, and catching a show from our own prestigious Pink Floyd Tribute Band, El Monstero. Scheduled for four nights at The Pageant, the band brings an all-new show created to celebrate their 17th year.

Equipped with lasers, visual effects, acrobatic dancers on chains, and more, the show is a trip on the senses. El Monstero draws from the catalog of the über-popular and articulate Pink Floyd, such as “Young Lust,” “Another Brick in the Wall,” and “Learning to Fly.” The precision of the music is enough to make the band entertaining, but El Monstero, composed of several artists from different local bands, produce not only the sonic shimmer, but a full-out stage show with actors. Focusing heavily on the visual aspect of the material, they make the most of the stage space The Pageant has to offer.

Performed in two acts, the show provides the majority of Pink Floyd’s better known work, as well as some heavy fan faves. Tracks like “Mother” and “Goodbye, Blue Sky” had the crowd roaring with happiness.

El Monstero is always a great show. With shows selling out quickly, the band is well loved by St. Louisans and a great way to ring in the holiday season. | Marc Farr
