If you took kraut-rock synthesizers, acoustic dance beats (!!!), and psychedelic freakouts, you'd get some sort of mega-strange nonsensical musical haberdashery of the catchy and irritating. Manning this haberdashery (for the sake of my metaphor) are Matt Epsy and Eric Lebofsky. The two Chicago natives met on Craigslist and seek to "push the pop envelope" by including "improvisational techniques into a song structure," according to their MySpace page.

Their debut LP Metagami is surprisingly enjoyable, if you can get past their repulsive vocals and ignore their absurd and aimless lyrics. Hidden beneath are some upbeat, light-hearted and interesting songs. This is no masterpiece, no great summit of musical accomplishment, but for a small niche it could be very fun. C- | Glen Elkins
