As the broad style of influences may indicate, there is quite a variety of tunes on this EP.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this one. Honey Honey is a duo based out of California, consisting of members Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe. It seems as is these two recently decided to get together and make some music;the public should definitely glad that they did. Their Loose Boots EP is a collection of infectiously catchy songs (the good kind) performed with excellent female vocals (subtle vibrato pure tone, light voice lent well to scales). The album has infusions of jazz, bluegrass, and folk-rock with hints of Amy Winehouse, White Stripes and a wide mix of other artists.

As the broad style of influences may indicate, there is quite a variety of tunes on this EP. The album opens with a Spanish-infused tune called "Little Toy Gun," my personal favorite. The next song is upbeat, rock-filled "Give Yourself to Me," that has an awesome fiddle solo in the middle. The emotional ballad "Bouncing Ball" really showcases Santo's amazing vocal abilities. Following that is the hilariously suggestive "Thursday Night," a slow country-styled parody on one-night stands. Closing the album is a gorgeously-produced piano ballad called "David."

My only complaint is that the release was only an EP. This group is definitely one to look out for. Here's hoping that they provide us with more musical goodness in the near future. A | Sheila Shahpari
