At first listen, Pretty Good Dance Moves' self-titled EP will definitely remind you of a number of artists that share their genre. The rapid drum machine tracks triggered reminiscence of Death Cab for Cutie/The Chemical Brothers, but there is definitely a larger set of influence going on here. PGDM provides the sonic imagery of a wide array of musical sounds. The disc offers an enticing blend of organic and synthetic instruments, fused together by catchy musical phrases and intricate layering. Each song functions as a well-placed piece of a larger cohesive unit; it is apparent that much thought went into song placement on this album.

Electropop may be the best descriptor of PGDM, though its organic flavor definitely provides a different edge. This is not your ordinary dance music. Substantial male and female vocals command a larger focus on the lyrics. Most songs seem to reflect a painful breakup, though you wouldn't think so given the major-keyed, up-tempo stylings. Though the lyrics tend to reflect the opposite, the overarching feel of the album is rather uplifting. A great record to take a drive or cook dinner to.
