Oh, those teases. Rather than a full release, Brooklyn indie popsters The Subjects have given us this trifle EP, just three songs. Still, it's an enjoyable ride (while it lasts), full of jangly, upbeat beats.

Something about opening track "Winter Vacation" doesn't quite stick. Maybe it's the way the vocalist talks more than he sings, or the constantly cantering beat. Though it maintains the EP's upbeat feel, "Right2Know" is a bit more electronic, not as genuine as the intro track. Clocking in at just 2:04, disc closer "Little Mountaintops" is over before it starts. While it lasts, it's a delectable bite of sunshine, an upbeat indie song just on the right side of twee.

The EP is an aural glimpse at what this indie quartet can do; I look forward to a full-length that I can really dive into. B- | Laura Hamlett
