This split CD contains two songs apiece from two great local rock bands. LoFreq features Gary Copeland, former member of Shame Club, on guitar and lead vocals and he manages to capture all of the energy of his live shows on the two tracks. The opening track, “Pusher,” is a brutal, guitar riff assault that is so addictive, it’s hard not to want to listen to it over and over again. The distorted vocal sound is the perfect effect to compliment the rush of electric guitar. “Back to the Garden of Eden” has a cleaner sound but is just as effective.
The Electric’s two-track contribution to the CD makes it clear that they are an aptly named band. Anyone who enjoys a larger-than-life sound of electric guitars will find this group hard to resist. “Danang” is a perfect example of the group’s satisfying guitar-rock sound, and “If Nobody Bleeds” is so full of life that it seems the band literally bleeds rock ’n’ roll.
LoFreq and the Electric are two great bands to see live and this CD proves they sound just as strong and alive on recordings.
