Metal legends Helmet bring their unique style to St. Louis on Sunday.
Formed by jazz musician Page Hamilton in New York in 1989, the band Helmet has released seven studio albums, played around the world, hit mainstream by selling millions of records, broken up and reunited, had music on television and in feature films, and seen a number of band members come and go. Hamilton and Co. have covered songs from a range of artists (from Björk to Black Sabbath) and, in turn, have heard their own songs sung by Deftones, Soulfly and Chevelle.
This rich history has carved an interesting niche for the band and earned them the nickname the “thinking person's heavy metal band.”
Jazz musicians that like Icelandic songstresses and play metal? What's not intriguing about that?! Do yourself a favor, get to Firebird on Sunday, October 2, and see what all the fuss is about.
Tickets can be purchased online and at the door. Firebird, 8pm, $15, 18+ | Nicole Madden
